Early residents built modest quaint frame cottage in a variety of styles, including shotgun and Queen Anne vernacular.  Many of the cottages feature turned posts and spindles, gingerbread trim porches, brackets, and fish scale shingles.

The historic neighborhood is located where downtown meets the near east. Within walking distance of an abundance of attractions including the best local eateries and shopping. Cottage Home Neighborhood is a NESCO community. This close-knit community of 150 homes regularly gets together for block parties and neighborhood clean ups and has one of the largest community gardens in the city. CoHo balances city living with small community values. The Cottage Home Neighborhood Association remains one of the city's most active neighborhood groups.
